Most frequently asked questions: Do I need to make an appointment or reservation? We only take reservations for organized groups or parties of 8 or more or for our Special Events or Camps or Classes. Otherwise, you are welcome to come in at anytime during our regular studio hours. Please note that most projects take at least an hour to complete and artists are asked to stop working on their projects about 15 minutes before closing time so we can complete their checkout and perform end of day clean up. Therefore, we kindly request that you consider this when you are planning your visit to the studio. Can I bring in food & drinks? Drinks in a container with a lid may be brought in any time. Food may only be brought in during Parties - limited to cake or cupcakes for Kids Parties or snacks & drinks - including alcholic beverages for adults over 21 years of age during Adult Parties or Events (Ladies Night or Date Night). Artists are welcome to go out and grab a bite to eat at one of the several eateries in our center (Boston Coffeehouse, Rita's Ice, Tropical Smoothie Cafe) or from the wide variety of restaurants at Waterford Lakes Town Center across the street, then come back and complete their projects. Do the paints stain? Are they safe for kids to use? All the paints & glazes that Painted by Hue offers are non-toxic and lead-free. They are also non-staining. After glazing & firing your pottery is food safe. We recommend hand washing & no microwaving. How young a child can come in to paint? Artists of all ages are welcome at Painted by Hue. Some activities and projects are especially tailored for specific age groups so that the experience has the best chance at being positive and rewarding. Newborns can supply their precious footprints to create treasured keepsakes. Children as young as two and a half - three years old can have fun & appreciate a pottery painting experience at our Paint a Story Time or when they walk-in with their family. Please note that an adult must accompany children under the age of 12 at all times unless the child is participating in a class for 7 year olds & up or a party. Check the Glass Fusing page for age restrictions when working with glass. Does Painted by Hue offer Group Discounts? Yes, please check the Adult Parties page and the Kids Activities and Classes page for discount details. What happens if I don't finish my project? No problem for pottery painting projects, we'll just carefully wrap up your project and send it home with you. There is a $5 Return to Paint Fee but the Fee can be waived if you start a new project when you return to finish your project. (Please note that in order for you to receive discounts or special pricing, the projects must be completed on the day of purchase.) Glass projects must be completed on the same day they are started. Most projects - pottery or glass - take at least an hour to complete and artists are asked to stop working on their projects about 15 minutes before closing time so we can complete their checkout and perform end of day clean up. Therefore, we kindly request that you consider this when you are planning your visit to the studio. Why does it take a week to get my project back? Once you have created your work of art whether from clay, bisque or glass it must be fired in our kilns which can be up to a 24 hour process (including time for cooling off). Additionally, painted projects have to dry fully then get hand dipped in glaze and allowed to dry again before they are fired. What happens if I can't come pick up my project when it's ready? Painted by Hue will hold your project for 30 days. Unfortunately, due to lack of storage space we can not be responsible for holding it longer than that. Every attempt is made to notify artists before the end of the 30 day period. What kinds of payments do you accept? Painted by Hue accepts Cash, Debit, MasterCard, Visa or American Express. We do not accept personal checks. Does Painted by Hue offer fundraising opportunities? Yes, fundraising with us can be lots of fun! Details can be found on the Just for Kids page. Please note that we are happy to work with adult groups as well. Do you sell greenware? No, Painted by Hue is a contemporary ceramic studio, not a traditional studio, meaning that we only sell pottery in bisque form. Bisque is greenware fired to Cone 04. It is ready for painting, glazing & firing. Can I bring in items I purchased at another studio or that I've created from clay at home to paint & fire at Painted by Hue? There's not a quick answer to this question. We must take this on a case by case basis. If, you do and we can there are Glazing & Firing fees per item. Call us for details. |
